I have always believed the fundamental focus of teaching should be to nurture and develop a love of music in each pupil. To achieve this, lessons are taught in a relaxed, fun and imaginative manner, while still ensuring each pupil receives the specific support and tuition required. Different genres of music are introduced and explored to broaden the pupil experience. Every pupil is different, so I always strive to tailor my approach to ensure pupils actually enjoy the music they are playing.

Music theory is taught using workbooks and interactive games, while composition is actively encouraged in all ages using Sibelius music notation software. It’s a wonderful moment when a first composition is printed off with the pupil’s own name as composer!

For those who wish to undertake either practical or theory exams, I am registered with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM).

**Piano BOOK**

My fully illustrated book, “Piano Scale Mnemonics” is now available for purchase.

The idea for a book about scales grew from my teaching, and the difficulties pupils would have in trying to recall the notes within scales, specifically the flats and sharps in each. I started to create mnemonics that were specific to each pupil, and it was encouraging to see how much this helped. I started to wonder whether I could make this approach more generic, and also group the mnemonics into categories, depending on whether they began on a white or a black piano key, and on whether they were major or minor. It was very important to me as well, that the mnemonic reflected the order of sharps and flats in a scale, as the scale is played. So began a LONG process of creating the mnemonics - some took weeks or months! Once complete, I started to create illustrations for each, to reinforce the mnemonic and to further aid recall. The book contains ALL scales currently listed in Grades 1-5 of both the ABRSM and Trinity syllabuses, plus additional scales for completeness, and is suitable for pupils of all ages.

The book is nearly 60 pages long and is priced at £12.95, plus shipping. It has been printed by Halstan, using the same quality of internal and cover paper as the very popular PianoTime series which they also print. If you are interested in purchasing a copy, please visit PianoScaleMnemonics.com
